The personal papers of Lucio Costa

It was a habit of Lucio Costa's to never throw a paper away and to always jot down any passing thought he may have had on the first paper within his reach. Hence the profusion of papers that remained in his house, all appearing at once: projects, letters, annotations - from the 20s, 80s, 50s, 30s, and 90s - cutting through the century as if time was condensed in a single moment. Contrary to what it may seem, these papers are not loose or unrelated fragments, they are live traces that reveal intellectual breadth, a sense of history or of a mission to be accomplished, and all of it intertwined in normal day to day life. Beneath it all, there is an immense, active, and definite trust in Brazil as a forward looking country "which will deliver its message in due time."
